Notes from Children & Family Ministries

A big "thank you" to all of the families that participated in our 2009 Fall Festival!  Many of you generously donated items to the Silent Auction and came out to enjoy the activities.  The event was very successful - 125 families attended and we were able to raise almost $5000 for The Methodist Home for Children.  Please check out the photos from Fall Festival on the Children & Family page of our website: www.stmarksraleigh.org.

November 2009 : Thankfulness

November 2009 : Thankfulness

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; and His love endures forever." 1Chronicles 16:34

This month in Chapel we will learn about being thankful.  Thankfulness is an attitude of gratitude.  The children will learn that God wants us to be thankful.  They will learn to show thankfulness to God for all that He has given to them.  You can read about thankfulness in the Old Testament in Psalm 100:4.  This psalm teaches us to "Give thanks to Him and praise His name."

Parent/Child Activities

  • Discuss the ways your child can show thankfulness to family and friends.
  • Model this emotion by expressing things you are thankful for everyday.  "I'm so thankful it is sunny today, so we can go outside and play."
  • When your child receives a gift, encourage him to make and send a 'thank you' note to the giver.

Backyard Bible Club

Does your preschooler have an older sibling? They won't want to miss the Backyard Bible Club at St. Mark's! The BBC is a ministry of St. Mark's for children in grades 1st through 5th. Our next night of fun will be this Tuesday, November 3rd from 6-7:30pm (dinner and dessert provided). Come be a part of the 'BBC' and enjoy an evening of food, fellowship and fun. This month we will show our appreciation to those who make St. Mark's a special place to be by making thank you cards and delivering them.

'Tis the Season

'Tis the Season

Mark your calendars for Sunday, December 13th.  You won't want to miss one of the most rewarding events at St. Mark's!   We will meet at the church at 3pm for an afternoon of caroling at Elmcroft of North Ridge Nursing Home. After caroling we will return to St. Mark's for a Birthday Party for Jesus. Cake and refreshments will be served.  What a great way to start off the holiday season!
