St. Mark's UMC Preschool

August 31, 2010

Welcome Back!

Dear Parents,

On Wednesday September 7th, St Mark's preschool will begin it's 25th year of serving the Raleigh community. For our new families, welcome to St. Mark's preschool, we are excited that you have chosen our school. To our returning families, welcome back. We hope you had a wonderful summer. We plan to celebrate this momentous occassion in our school's history and will be sending information out to you as we get closer to that special day. The teachers have been busy preparing their classrooms for your arrival and look forward to another wonderful year with your children. As always, we thank you for allowing us the opportunity to work with your children.

If you are receiving this eblast then you are a part of our effort to "go green" with our monthly communications to you the parents. We hope this will allow us to better communicate pertinent information to all families.

Again, welcome back and we look forward to another wonderful year at St. Mark's preschool.

Blessings,

Wendy

Back to School...Back to Church

Back to School...Back to Church

Most every morning my chilren (ages 4 and 2) want to know, "Daddy, is today the day we go back to preschool? Please, please say YES!" When I respond, "No, not quite yet," their little lips begin to quiver and tears begin to trickle down their cheeks. It is so pitiful. Okay, so not really!  I think they are praying (literally) that summer will last forever. But as a parent and as the pastor of St. Mark's, I can't wait for preschool to start! (Can I get an Amen?) The start of preschool signals a different rhythm for children, for families, and for the church. Gone are lazy mornings spent eating breakfast in pajamas. Gone are mid-morning runs for ice-cream. Gone are lazy afternoons lounging by the pool. Gone are relaxed bedtimes. In there place we adopt more structured schedules. As you and your family begin to make the shift back to school, I hope you will also make the shift back to church and/or to a more intentional involvement in the life of this church or the one you attend. Our excellent faculty will provide your children with a good start, but they alone cannot offer all that your child(ren) needs to be fully formed disciples of Jesus Christ. St. Mark's UMC is devoted to ministry with children and families. We would love to have you check out all that the church has to offer. We believe we can be great partners with you in the formation of your child's spiritual life. If you have any questions or want more information, please do not hesitate to be in touch with me. So while you're getting ready to go back to school...allow me  to also invite you back to church. (Worship is at 8:30 am and 11 am in the sanctuary) We start a sermon series entitled Church 101 this Sunday, September 5th. Catch, our new member inquiry class begins on Sunday, September 12th at 9:45. Contact Amy Perry at admin@stmarksraleigh.org for more information.

Blessings,

Pastor Ben
